Reality star Toya Johnson joined Kym Lee for a special episode of Talk About “U”, to talk about her new vlog series, “My Fibroid Journey,” which followed her 10-year odyssey coping with fibroids.
This episode of the IG Live, titled Toya Tells All: A Fibroid Journey, allows viewers to hear about the behind-the-scenes of her seven-part vlog series, offering a personal look at Toya’s experience with uterine fibroids and why she chose to document her story.
Created in partnership with USA Fibroid Centers, the series follows Toya through her doctor’s visits, uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) procedure, and recovery. She explains how fibroids disrupted nearly every part of her life—including her ability to work, exercise, travel, and maintain a social life—and why she felt compelled to speak out to help others feel less alone.
“I feel like we need to learn how to speak up and speak out about things like this because it’s serious and a lot of African American women are suffering from fibroids,” said Toya. “So, I need to use my platform, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get the word out that there are other treatment options.” Toya Johnson
