ABC News anchor Linsey Davis is speaking publicly for the first time about her years long struggle with uterine fibroids and her recent decision to undergo a hysterectomy. Davis shared her health journey in a candid conversation with USA Fibroid Centers Ambassador Cynthia Bailey, singer Tamar Braxton, and Atlanta-based gynecologist Dr. Soyini Hawkins.

During the discussion, Davis spoke about battling painful menstrual cycles, extreme fatigue, and severe bloating while continuing her work in front of the camera. She shared that bloating related to fibroids once led to speculation on social media that she was pregnant, which both Bailey and Braxton said they experienced.

Bailey, who spoke publicly about her fibroid journey during her time as a main cast member on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, described how exhaustion and pain from fibroids affected her personal and professional life. She noted the importance of spreading awareness and advocating for treatment options.

Braxton reflected on her own experience with fibroids, which she says affected multiple members of her family. She emphasized that open conversations about menstrual health are important, especially in the Black community, where fibroid symptoms are often normalized and left untreated.

Dr. Hawkins provided insight into why fibroids disproportionately affect Black women, citing genetic factors, a hereditary component, and the role of vitamin D deficiency in fibroid growth. She stressed the need for better awareness, early diagnosis, and access to a range of treatment options.
