MTVStarCaraMariaFibroidJourneywithUSAFibroidCenters

As part of Fibroid Awareness Week (April 18-24), MTV’s The Challenge Star Cara Maria Sorbello partnered with USA Fibroid Centers to share her experience living with a large uterine fibroid and undergoing uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).

In a series of videos released on USA Fibroid Centers’ YouTube channel, Sorbello documented the physical and emotional impact of her fibroid, which had grown to 16 centimeters. She shared how the size and location of the tumor caused severe bloating, frequent urination, pressure in her abdomen, and painful intercourse—symptoms that significantly affected her quality of life.

Rather than opting for surgery or hormonal medication, Sorbello chose UFE, a non-surgical treatment that blocks blood flow to the fibroid, causing it to shrink over time. The videos follow her through each stage of the process, from showing her visibly bloated belly before treatment to the day of the procedure and follow-ups at six months and one year after UFE.

By sharing her story, Sorbello is helping raise awareness and highlighting the importance of knowing all available treatment options.
