USA Fibroid Centers’ Fibroid Ambassador Kym Lee was featured in HealthCentral media, where she talked about her battle with uterine fibroids. The featured article highlights three women’s experiences navigating fibroid diagnosis and treatment.
Uterine fibroids impact up to 80% of Black women and 70% of white women by age 50, affecting millions across the U.S. Some women have no symptoms, but many suffer for years without answers, often misdiagnosed and left untreated.
Kym Lee battled painful fibroid symptoms for years before receiving a diagnosis. Her doctor recommended a hysterectomy and identified her symptoms as perimenopause. Lee searched for other answers, relying on pain medication to cope. Eventually, a severe hemorrhage led to an emergency partial hysterectomy.
After her ordeal, Lee became a USA Fibroid Centers ambassador. Through the Talk About ‘U’ platform, she advocates and educates women about the causes and risk factors associated with fibroids but also the safe and effective non-surgical treatment options available.
“Today, my health is stable,” Lee states, “but my journey emphasized the importance of self-advocacy. My mission now is to empower other women with knowledge and support, guiding them to make an informed decision about treatment options.”
