USA Fibroid Centers' patients holding their babies after having uterine fibroid embolization (UFE)

For countless women, the dream of becoming a mother is challenged by a diagnosis they never expected: uterine fibroids. These common, noncancerous tumors can cause more than just heavy periods or pelvic pain—they can interfere with fertility, delay family planning, or lead to discouraging treatment recommendations like hysterectomy.

But there’s another path—one that’s helping women reclaim their reproductive health without invasive surgery. USA Fibroid Centers has seen firsthand how uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is changing lives by helping women achieve their goals of becoming mothers. By shrinking fibroids and preserving the uterus, UFE offers a non-invasive treatment option empowers women to pursue pregnancy on their own terms.

Celebrating Patient Pregnancies After UFE

This blog highlights a few of our most inspiring patient journeys: real women who overcame fibroid-related obstacles and went on to have pregnancies after uterine fibroid embolization. Their stories offer hope, encouragement and a powerful reminder that pregnancy after UFE is not only possible but happening every day.

“What if I Don’t Want a Hysterectomy?”

For Yvette, UFE not only provided symptom relief—it fulfilled her dream of becoming a mother.

When Yvette Foy, 37, was diagnosed with uterine fibroids, the recommended course of treatment was a hysterectomy—a procedure that would have permanently ended her ability to have children.  Like many women facing fibroids, Yvette found herself at a crossroads: undergo surgery and give up her dream of becoming a mother or seek another way. She explained, “I think when I had fibroids, I didn’t get pregnant because the tumors were too big.”

Determined to preserve her fertility, Yvette sought a second opinion and explored alternative treatments. That search led her to USA Fibroid Centers, where she learned about uterine fibroid embolization (UFE)—a minimally invasive procedure designed to shrink fibroids without removing the uterus.

After discussing her goals with a UFE with Dr. Aaron Shiloh, an interventional radiologist at USA Fibroid Centers in Pennsylvania, Yvette proceeded with UFE.

Two years after UFE treatment, her motherhood story began with the healthy delivery of a beautiful daughter on Christmas Day.

“Fibroids can sometimes cause infertility issues or complications during pregnancy or childbirth,” said Dr. Shiloh. “We advise patients who suffer from fibroids to consider treatment before getting pregnant.”

Yvette’s story highlights a growing awareness around fertility-preserving fibroid treatment options.  Her experience also reflects the mission of USA Fibroid Centers: to offer personalized, compassionate care that helps women make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

Surprise Pregnancy After UFE

Pregnant after UFE
Mardia (r) tells Dr.Shiloh she was surprised to find herself pregnant seven months after UFE.

For Mardia J., the journey to motherhood came as a surprise- one that began seven months after undergoing UFE at USA Fibroid Centers.

After years of living with painful menstrual symptoms caused by fibroids, Mardia opted for UFE in hopes of finding relief. What followed was more than symptom improvement—it was the beginning of an unexpected pregnancy and the arrival of her healthy baby boy.

Mardia’s experience highlights the importance of exploring alternative treatments like UFE before resorting to hysterectomy. Because UFE preserves the uterus, it allows women the possibility of conceiving in the future – something that’s meaningful to those who are still planning or open to pregnancy.

Discovering her unexpected pregnancy following UFE was an exhilarating whirlwind of emotions.

Her story underscores a growing need for awareness around fertility-preserving fibroid treatments and serves as a reminder that non-surgical options can offer both relief and renewed possibilities.

“What Are the Odds of Getting Pregnant After UFE?”

Diane successfully has a baby girl after UFE and is still symptoms free four years later.

Diane C. spent years living with fibroids, hoping they would disappear naturally as she approached menopause. But with the possibility of motherhood still close to her heart, she wasn’t ready to wait and risk losing her chance at having a baby.

When she finally sought treatment, the recommendation from the hospital was clear:  a hysterectomy –largely due to her age. Diane wasn’t ready to accept that losing her uterus was her only option.  Her turning point came unexpectedly—after watching a segment featuring Cynthia Bailey talking about UFE and USA Fibroid Centers. Inspired, Diane scheduled a consultation.

At her appointment, Dian met with Dr. Sheth, an interventional radiologist, who listened to her concerns and understood her goal of preserving fertility. While no promises could be made, UFE offered a possibility—a minimally invasive treatment that could relieve her symptoms without surgery.

One year after her procedure, Diane welcomed a beautiful baby into her life.

“Obviously, I was concerned if I could have a baby after UFE because I was told so many things,” Diane said. “But Dr. Sheth was so honest and heard my goals. I went in knowing that at least I had hope.”

Diane’s story reinforces the value of seeking second opinions and exploring fertility-preserving alternatives like UFE before considering more permanent procedures. For her, hope led to healing—and to motherhood.
