Recently covered by the Associated Press, USA Fibroid Centers released a public service announcement (PSA), Check In on ‘U’, bringing attention to the importance of menstrual health during Endometriosis Awareness Month.
The PSA, featuring USA Fibroid Centers’ ambassador and health advocate Kym Lee, highlights the similarities between endometriosis and uterine fibroids. These two conditions share symptoms like severe pelvic pain and heavy menstrual bleeding. By increasing awareness, USA Fibroid Centers aims to help women seek timely and accurate diagnoses while learning about minimally invasive treatment options.
“Too many women undergo unnecessary hysterectomies due to a lack of awareness about their treatment options,” said Yan Katsnelson, M.D., Founder and CEO. “Providing women with comprehensive information on menstrual health conditions, including fibroids, enables them to make informed decisions about their care.”
More than 600,000 hysterectomies are performed in the U.S. each year, with fibroids and endometriosis being two leading causes. Despite the availability of non-surgical treatments—such as uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) for fibroids and hormonal therapies for endometriosis—many women are not presented with these alternatives.
The Check In on ‘U’ PSA encourages women to be proactive about their health and seek care from specialists who offer a full range of treatment options. Watch the PSA here.
As Endometriosis Awareness Month continues, USA Fibroid Centers remains committed to educating women about their reproductive health. To learn more about fibroids, symptoms, and treatment options, visit www.usafibroidcenters.com.
