Want to know how a minimally invasive treatment for fibroids can get rid of your painful symptoms? Dr. Yan Katsnelson, Founder and CEO of USA Fibroid Centers, provides an in-depth analysis of fibroid disease and uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) on the “Way Up with Angela Lee” radio show with host Angela Lee.
Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous tumors affecting up to 80% of Black women and 70% of white women by the age of 50. Despite their prevalence, many women suffer in silence due to a lack of awareness about treatment options.
Dr. Katsnelson explained that traditionally, fibroids have been treated with medication, surgical procedures like myomectomy or hysterectomy, or simply managing symptoms. These options can be invasive, carry significant risks, and may not be suitable for all women, particularly those who wish to preserve their fertility. He spoke about uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) as a minimally invasive fibroid treatment option that, according to the Society of Interventional Radiology, 62 percent of women had never heard of despite more than 20 years of clinical treatment use.[1]
“For too long, women have been told to ‘do nothing’ or undergo invasive surgeries like hysterectomy to treat fibroids,” said Dr. Katsnelson. “Many women are simply not aware that UFE exists; we need to educate women about this option so they can make informed decisions about their healthcare.”
Lee concluded the interview by thanking Dr. Katselson for bringing awareness to UFE. She encouraged listeners to learn more about the procedure and to advocate for themselves if they are experiencing symptoms of fibroids.

About USA Fibroid Centers
As a leading advocate for Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) as a treatment for uterine fibroids, USA Fibroid Centers is dedicated to dismantling the taboo surrounding discussions about women’s reproductive health. Our mission is to empower women with the knowledge they need about fibroids, enabling them to make informed decisions for their well-being.
Uterine fibroids are the leading cause of hysterectomies, and minimally invasive options like UFE often go unmentioned when women are presented with their treatment options for their fibroids. We want to provide education about the importance of understanding all the treatment options for fibroids so that no woman has to make the difficult decision between life with pain and fibroid treatment.
