TaRhonda Thomas, 6ABC Action News’ first Race and Culture Reporter, will be a guest on USA Fibroid Centers’ IG Live Program Talk About “U” to talk about her ordeal with fibroids and treatment on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. (EST).

Thomas, 6ABC Action News’s first Race and Culture Reporter, suffered from fibroids and went public about her fibroid treatment.

“People don’t talk about it a lot, and it impacts so many women, especially Black women,” Thomas said. “We’re far more likely to not only develop them but be hospitalized because of them.”

Thomas wants to spread awareness about this condition. “If there’s a woman out there struggling like I was and still am, you’re not alone. It’s something we’ve got to talk about and put out there.”

The program will cover:

  • How fibroids can turn into a medical emergency
  • The physical and emotional impact of living with fibroids
  • Fibroids, symptoms and treatment options

Their discussion will also cover fibroids, their symptoms, and treatment. Fibroids, which are benign tumors, have painful symptoms that often include heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pain, frequent urination, bloating, or back in the lower back.

Lee hosts the educational initiative started by the USA Fibroid Centers’ Instagram live “Talk About “U” to encourage women to speak out and share their fibroid journeys. Streaming live on the USA Fibroid Centers’ social media platform, the bi-monthly programs attract thousands of followers.
