Dr. Yan and Cynthia Bailey Talk Fibroids on WURD

A radio broadcast on WURD, an African American-owned and operated radio station in Pennsylvania, brought together Dr. Yan Katsnelson, founder and CEO of USA Fibroid Centers, and Cynthia Bailey, The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum and fibroid ambassador, for a conversation about fibroids.

“Most of the time, women either suffer in silence for 10 to 20 years, or they get treatment like surgeries, which can be preventable,” Dr. Katsnelson explains to radio host Tonya Pendleton.

Cynthia Bailey shared her fibroid journey in the broadcast. She suffered from multiple symptoms of fibroids, including heavy, prolonged bleeding, anemia, and bloating. Her symptoms put her in a dark headspace until she found out about uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).

“I got my life back after UFE,” said Bailey. “I think we all deserve to be able to live a quality life. I think as women, we do so much and put ourselves last, it’s important to put ourselves first and our wellness first.”

UFE is a non-surgical treatment for uterine fibroids. During UFE, interventional radiologists use ultrasound imaging technology to target the fibroids and cut the arteries supplying blood to the fibroid. The fibroid will start to shrink and die, providing women relief from fibroid symptoms.

Cynthia Bailey has been busy since she’s been free of fibroids. On top of acting and reality TV, Bailey continues her work as a USA Fibroid Center’s ambassador, educating women about UFE as a viable treatment option for fibroids.
