Fibroid fighterscenters in the news press release 1

Dr. Yan Katsnelson, CEO of USA Fibroid Centers, received a Citation of Merit Award from Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson for his “exceptional contributions to uterine fibroids treatment and fibroid awareness,” according to a press release picked up by local newspaper The Bronx Daily.

Fibroids are non-cancerous tumors that develop in the uterus. Fibroids can vary in size and location, with different symptoms that can affect a woman’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. These symptoms include heavy prolonged periods, pelvic and back pain, anemia, painful cramps, incontinence and pain during sex.

26 million women in the US suffer from fibroids, with black women being disproportionately affected. 80% of black women develop fibroids by the age of 50, compared to 70% of white women.

Dr. Katsnelson’s efforts in advancing UFE treatment for fibroids and raising awareness of fibroids caught the attention of Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson. President Gibson presented the Bronx’s Citation of Merit Award during the “Night in Full Bloom” event, hosted by the Fibroid Fighters Foundation. A Citation of Merit award recognizes people or organizations for making significant contributions in the Bronx community.

Under Dr. Katsnelson’s leadership, USA Fibroid Centers provides high-quality, accessible care, promoting women’s fibroid health through leading-edge technology and compassionate service.

“When I first became Bronx Borough President in 2022, I visited USA Fibroid Centers and I met Dr. Katsnelson and we talked about fibroids,” said President Gibson. “Little did I know the following years, fibroids would affect me.”

Gibson was one of many fibroid survivors who shared their experiences living with fibroids. Celebrities like Cara Maria Sorbello from MTV’s The Challenge and social media influencer Eugenia Buie shared their experiences, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness and supporting women affected by the disease.

“A Night in Full Bloom” was hosted by Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Cynthia Bailey and celebrity makeup artists Kym Lee. Dr. Katsnelson gave the keynote address, followed by a discussion panel with Dr. Katsnelson, fibroid ambassadors, and survivors.

“We are here because millions of women suffer from fibroids that affect them physically, mentally, and socially,” explains Dr. Katsnelson. “Too often, they agree to invasive surgeries they do not need. We are here so women can live their best lives without limitation.”

The event was sponsored by USA Fibroid Centers, Merit Medical, Planned Parenthood, Moore Promotions, Antenna Satellite and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Epsilon Zeta Chapter, Bronx, NY.
