Fibroid Procedure in California
Uterine fibroids can cause many uncomfortable or even painful symptoms, and ignoring these benign growths won’t make them go away. Fortunately, patients living in Southern California can turn to the highly skilled and compassionate team at USA Fibroid Centers. Our fibroid specialists are experts in a non-invasive fibroid treatment referred to as Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE).
Our goal at USA Fibroid Centers is to raise awareness about non-surgical fibroid treatments. Many gynecologists in California will present surgical options like hysterectomy as the only treatment option for uterine fibroids. However, this form of surgery does not preserve the uterus and is often medically unnecessary. UFE has a lower risk of complications, a faster recovery time, and doesn’t require hospitalization.
When you schedule an appointment at a USA Fibroid Centers outpatient facility here in California, we’ll discuss the variety of treatment options available to you, including non-invasive UFE. We believe in complete transparency as we answer your questions and help you understand the UFE procedure and recovery process. Every woman should have the ability to live free from uterine fibroid symptoms, and your consultation at USA Fibroid Centers is the first step.
Non-invasive California uterine fibroids treatment
USA Fibroid Centers is one of only a few locations in California offering UFE. Some women believe major surgeries, like myomectomy or hysterectomy, are their only options, but that’s just not true. The UFE procedure is FDA-approved and is performed in-office at one of our local outpatient facilities. Before you undergo UFE, our doctors will verify your diagnosis and ensure the location of your fibroids using an ultrasound technique called fibroid mapping.
UFE is an outpatient treatment utilizing a small incision made on the upper thigh. Through this opening, a catheter is inserted into the artery supplying blood to the fibroids. The doctor releases small particles through the catheter, which effectively blocks all blood flow to the fibroids, leading them to shrink and eventually die.
The UFE procedure has many distinct advantages over traditional fibroid treatments, such as:
- The procedure lasts only 30-45 minutes.
- Stitches are not necessary, just a small bandage.
- You can go home directly after without having to be hospitalized.
- Regular activities can be resumed one to two weeks after your treatment.
